About U4F

The "University for Future" process is an initiative of the Rectorate of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences that is unique in Germany. The aim is to involve a broad public in shaping the future of our university. We are located in a region that is undergoing profound structural change. As a result, the demands on us as a university are also changing. In the University for Future process, we want to develop our university in a participatory manner WITH the stakeholders of the region and FOR our region.

In order to implement the participatory shaping of the university's future, the university management regularly invites university members and stakeholders from the region to discuss various issues relating to shaping the future. Key topics include, for example

  • Designing degree programs and the campus of the future
  • Digital transformation of the university
  • Future learning location Oberlausitz
  • Lifelong learning

More than 400 people have already been involved in the process of shaping the future and this process will continue. Everyone is welcome to get involved and play an active role in shaping the future.

One of the fundamental principles of the HSCG Rectorate is the participatory shaping of the future of the university. This takes place within the framework of the University for Future process designed for this purpose. This means that the Rectorate uses various formats, e.g. workshops, to promote exchange on topics that require modernization or reorientation in relation to the entire university. The university public is always invited to participate in the process of brainstorming and concept development.

After the current Rectorate took office in March 2020, an integrative process for the reorientation of the HSCG was initiated under the slogan U4F, in which representatives of internal and external stakeholder groups at the university were and are involved. The results of the project groups of the previous university-wide U4F workshops are continuously incorporated into the strategic orientation of the HSCG.
